Chemo is a horrible journey to go through in addition to other surgery, rads and/or other treatments. Some of us have smooth doable treatments and for others it is rough. I thought to start this thread as the flip side to the "Stupid Comments" - to maybe share a smile or giggle for someone while on their journey. Please feel free to share a positive or funny story to brighten someones day.

Back when I was doing chemo (4 DD A/C and 4 DD Taxol) it was a very hot summer - extreme heatwave. I was about midway through my treatments - quite bald and extremely fatigued from anemia and GI issues. I had just returned home after an infusion so it was late afternoon. Our garage is attached to the house by the kitchen door. I have horses and wanted to check their hay/water status so I went back out this side door. Just as I ALMOST exited the garage a HUGE SKUNK walked into the garage!! I had just come down the stairs and was quite close to this animal. To say my adrenaline kicked in is an understatement. As drugged up, spaced out and anemic as I was I don't think I ever moved so fast in my entire life. I literally FLEW out the side door dashed up the deck stairs to bang on the locked slider doors. Yelling to DH to let me in! The skunk had also exited out the same side door as me (although I was now elevated above him on the deck). I understand they are near sighted but he was not at all put off by my yelling and banging on slider.

The Skunk proceeded to hang around under the deck and nearby firewood pile for over 2 hours!! I'm guessing to look for a den or something? I put the dog out on the deck (because it was elevated above the skunk) in hopes all the barking would cause the skunk to leave. I guess he was deaf because the crazy dog barking did not make any impression on him. I'm just grateful after the 2 plus hours he finally moved on.
