I just got my report back and I am freaking out can someone help me what it means

Left Breast

within the lower outer quadrant a 3.7 x.2.2 x 2.0 cm postbiospy hematoma/seroma is noted with an associated biopsy marker corresponding to the biopsy proved DCIS. The large post biopsy hermtoma/seroma limits valuation of possible extent of disease. Enchantment surrounding the postbiopsy cavity is suggestive of post biopsy changes

Axilla

There is no significant lymphadenopathy

impression

Left breast lower outer quadrant biopsy-proven DCIS with large post biopsy seroma/hematone limiting evaluation of disease extent. Enhancement surrounding the biopsy cavity is thought to be secondary to postbiopsy changes. Follous up MRI following the surgical intervention is advised to assess possible residual disease.

Recommendation Appropriate surgical and oncological management is advised

Bi Rads 6

I had a stereotatic biopsy and was told I had low nuclear grade DCIS non invasive. could someone explain to me the findings on this MRI does this change the outcome on my surgery. I was told I was going a lumpectomy I am so scared please if anyone understand this let me know thank you in advance

Nope, nothing changes. Basically, they are saying there was some bleeding (pretty common) after your biopsy and that bleeding makes it difficult for them to see your DCIS. The good news is they did not find any new issues.

thankyou it does not show how large the tumor is correct?? and I should still be getting a lumpectomy?

can you tell by the mri how much of the breast would be taken out. I am soo nervous thank you for your help

Yes, you can still have a lumpectomy. Your surgeon will be able to tell you whether the hematoma requires any tweaking of his surgical plan. Don't hesitate to call him (or her) with your concerns. By the way, they do rearrange your tissues to produce good aesthetic results. I had two golfball-sized lumps removed from my less-than-C-cup breast and you cannot tell at all.

Brookside Vt what does the above mean assess possible residual disease? is the lower outer quadrant where he will make the incision ?? thank you

He'll make the incision where he feels he has the best access to your DCIS, and where/how you will have the best cosmetic outcome. Because the hematoma kind of invalidates your MRI for visualizing the extent of your DCIS, the radiologist recommends a postsurgical MRI (after everything has healed down, I suppose) just to check that everything is super fine and to "see" the area masked by the hematoma.

Have you met with your surgeon yet?

rosierosie... This is just my opinion but I would want a repeat MRI before I had surgery. I would be interested in knowing what your doc thinks. The reason they order preoperative MRIs is to make sure they know exactly what they are dealing with. Since the serum /hematoma is making this difficult I would want it repeated after healing takes place. Since its only DCIS you can safely wait. Good luck and keep us posted.....

yes i saw my surgeon about 2 weeks ago my surgery date is March 4, suppose to have a lumptecomy with snb, he told me I have DCIS non invasive low nuclear grade stage 0 grade 1, on my stereortatic biopsy report it said birads 5, on this mri report is says birads 6 did it get worse, My surgeon said I had the cancer that was inside the duct and was not invasive. why did the birads number change? sorry for some many questions but I just dont how to handle this thank you so much for reading my posts

Birads six applies to confirmed cancer-in other words, they already know you have cancer. Nothing worse. They are doing the MRI on someone who has already been confirmed to have cancer

Question...if initial biopsy says adh borderline dcis and mri is clear (no sign of dcis or anything else) if it turns out to be dcis is it dcis grade 1??
