Can anyone please tell me what measures I can take to prevent radiation induced fibrosis? I am not reacting well so far to rads. Many thanks!!

This is a really good question - one I have asked myself many times.

    Does anyone have any information?

Are you asking about lung fibrosis? Have you asked your RO the same question?

I don't think patient can prevent fibrosis but I am not a medical professional. Maybe the risk of fibrosis is higher with bigger rads doses or depends the target's location. But that's just guessing based on common sense.

My RO told me - post factum - that they expect to see inflammation in the lungs after whole breast radiation. That inflammation usually goes away on its own. In my case, it showed on chest CT done five months after the completion of rads and it was gone on the follow up CT six months later. There were no symptoms, if it weren't for the CT scan I wouldn't have known.
