Double Mastectomy 8 years ago and now breast changes?

Options

Hi,

I had a double mastectomy 8 years ago, chemo and good check ups. I was stage 2 and no nodes at age 30 years old. Now my breast cancer breast seems to be a little swollen and under the nipple I don't feel a lump so much as it feels hard.... The other breast is not hard under the nipple. Under the nipple is the location of my first tumor.... I am just worried, I had an appointment in 2 weeks anyway with my oncologist so I figure I will just wait until then. Any one else experience changes to the breast years after a mastectomy?

I am sorry you are dealing with anxiety about this.

I'm not sure I understand your post...if you have had a double mastectomy, should we assume you had skin sparing (to keep nipple) and recon...and you are talking about your reconstructed breast? It could just be the implant. I guess those need to be replaced every 10 or so years.

I did not have reconstruction so I just monitor my underarms and scar line. If there's anything in my chest wall, I don't know how they would check for it.

sorry my post was confusing. I have fake nipples as well. They used skin from under my arms to create a nipple. Hopefully it is just the implant. I didn't think about it needing to be replaced although my other one is fine. Guess we'll see what the doctor thinks

If you are feeling a change, I would call your doctor; possibly they can get you in sooner. It is something that should be checked out. Keep us posted.
