Deconstruction and still with pain

I deconstructed two weeks ago, still have severe tightness and feel like implant is still in me. I am left with nipple in case I go back to implant. My right arm still feels like it is leaning in me (I had a ld Flap in 2014) Implant is gone now, but I feel the same as if it were in me. Am I crazy?. Anyone out there? I know there are other posts, however, they are from months ago, am I in the wrong place to ask?

Thank you all. Looking for someone to answer.

Sorry you're still in pain. Perhaps it's the muscle brought around from the LD flap that caused the original pain, or perhaps nerve issues caused by the original surgery. But given that you're only two weeks out from surgery, perhaps things will still improve. I hope so!

Erica, the Pain is in that area, plus I feel like a cirlce around breast area is there. Most of all, the LD Flap gave me nothing but grief. Thank you so much for replying. Each morning so far, I wake up waiting for the pain. Hugs.

ronqt1, I think two weeks is still early! Your nervous system has gotten very used to the pain, and I think it will take a little bit to re-calibrate. I'm four weeks post-mastectomy (no recon) and sometimes I can still "feel" the missing breast there, phantom sensations, because my nervous system (brain) spent a whole lot of years with the breast, hasn't quite figured out it's not there yet.

My advice would be to start doing things, gentle movement, that feel good-ish, if you can. Even gentle massage when you are ready. Start teaching your nervous system to let go of what it has learned.

Hi rontq. I too had a deconstruction of an ld flap several years ago now. Even now sometimes it feels as though i still have my reconstruction. It will take time for the tightness to ease. My best advice to you is to do some xercises every day. The best one for me was to walk my hands up the wall, gradually stretching your arm and back. I did this in the shower.

Good luck and have patience. You will adjust in time.

One more thought, rontq. If you can find a physical therapist who specializes in working with breast cancer patients, you may get some relief. A good PT can release scar tissue and ease discomfort.

Gals, thank you. I was going crazy why no one was answering. Another question, Dr. left nipple area just in case. Does anyone know of anyone else who deconstructed temporarily. I know it is a crazy question. I believe my Dr. left it because this was done reluctantly and had no recourse. Thank you.

    Hi Ronqt1-

Another member bumped a thread you might be interested in, IMPLANTS REMOVED, YAY. Also, even though you are deconstructed, we would recommend posted in the Reconstruction forum as well, some of your questions and concerns could be answered there too!
