Swelling and pain at mastectomy site

Options

My husband was diagnosed with IDC lymph node positive stage 2/3 breast cancer in 2013. He had a mastectomy node removal, chemo and radiation. He is recently experiencing an uncomfortable ache at the mastectomy site and under his arm. The dr has ordered an ultrasound and it says "sudden swelling at site - feels Ballotable , fluid filled at area scar ridging". We are really worried and the ultrasound is a 3 week wait. Has anyone else experienced this? Could this just be aggravated by something like snow shoveling? Thank you

Can you ask them to get him in sooner somewhere else? 3 weeks seems like a long time to wait. If they took lymph noes, it could be some lymphedema developing after shoveling, etc, but I'd wan tto know sooner than 3 weeks. Keep us posted.

The ultrasound revealed a pocket of fluid behind his scar tissue. They aspirated it and now sent off to the lab for testing. The radiologist felt it was nothing to worry about. I've been reading about seromas and they seem to be a post op issue or implant issue not a 3 years out issue . Hopefully nothing
