Received call from breast surgeon's office today. Left quadrantectomy. They took out 5 x 3.5 cms on 2/3/16 Final path report, all margins clear, one close. The area of DCIS found was less than anticipated. Not sure if it was due to most being taken out with sterotactic or the turmeric..but the area was just 0.8cms pure DCIS with no areas of invasion according to the final report from pathology. The previous mammos showed more DCIS? Is this unusual? I'm just thrilled. I nearly fell to my knees when they called. I go back next Monday to discuss, rads plus Tamoxifen and drill into more of the details. UPENN is amazing. Local community hospital stated would take 4 and 1/2 hours, PENN got out in 45 mins.
