Hi there

I was diagnosed at 32 after my second baby was born. I had AC-T Chemo and then tamoxifen. My periods never stopped despite treatments.... I'm very regular! I took tamoxifen regularly for 2.5 years and since then (another year), I have intermittently taken a break from tamoxifen. I would like to have another baby. No luck despite regular cycles and regular intercourse. Anybody else have experience with this... Decreased fertility despite regularity?! Feeling frustrated.

Thanks

hi there. I was dx while pregnant with my first. I also did ACT chemo. My cycles stopped for a long time but probably because they were already stopped due to pregnancy. I wanted a second child so when I came off tamoxifen I did acupuncture which helped me get a very regular cycle back. Fast forward two years of regular cycles, regular intercourse with ovulation tracking, and two months of fertility treatments and no baby (one pregnancy that ended in early miscarriage) :( I'm still very regular but it seems (according to my fertility dr) that the chemo damaged the quality of my eggs and chances of me conceiving are pretty low. She was pretty shocked that I conceived that pregnancy that I miscarried. She always told me that all I could do was keep trying and that in time I might have a lucky month. I have since stopped trying and have decided to move on with life. I would suggest getting your FSH tested; it's a simple blood test. Although my periods are regular, my FSH is undetectable which means my hormones are tanked and chances of conception are low. You may want to read about Premature Ovarian Failure. This is my official diagnosis and is common with chemo. The chemo gets into your ovaries and damages the immature eggs, the loss of so many eggs makes your body think your ovaries are menopausal. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck! I hope you have a different result than I dd!

    Ladies,

Sorry to read about your struggles.

I am 39, just found out less than 3 days ago that my biopsies all revealed cancer (IDC). I am starting to look into preserving my fertility. If anyone has any input or knowledge regarding fertility preservation in the DC area, please let me know. Also, I need to get a second opinion because that's what everyone is telling me to do. Finally, I want to learn more about alternative therapies.

This is a very scary time for me. Please help me. May God bless all of you. Amen.
