Hi - I am a month out of BMX & SNB this Tuesday and am looking for a PT in North Dallas area.

My BS when asked said they don't refer. No much after care except come back in 6 months

I am back to work P/T this week but am still in a lot of pain and am concerned about cording and future lymphedema although my incisions seem to be healing well.

I'd like to do more than the 6 exercises in the booklet I was given by BS nurse.

Feel free to PM me if you prefer not to post.

Thanks.

Google Lebed classes, sometimes called Healthy Steps or the like. This class is designed for those who have had breast surgery. It is a safe exercise class, and fun. The one at my hospital was a real lifesaver for me because I was so worried about my cording and my fear of lympedema. Moreover, it was a group of breast cancer ladies who gathered for a purpose other than cancer. A bonus was that my instructors were lymphedema therapists. You do want your PT to be a certified lymphedema therapist, by the way. A few sessions went a long, long way to lessening my fears and giving me a sense of physical/emotional health and wholeness.

I just did the Google thing and found classes at Baylor and College Station Medical station, with the instructors' emails posted. Chances are these ladies will be a great resource. The address is wwwgohealthysteps.com,

By the way, my favorite exercise was just to lie on the floor (even better, on the bed), stretch out my arm, and very gently stretch away, then move my arm a bit and repeat.

thanks will check it out. I think I had seen something at Baylor but it was once a week at a time I know I could not make regularly but will recheck. I am looking to do one on one so I can try to get days and times that can work for me and definitely want certified lymphedema PT.
