I had my mammogram done in December and it came back with a suspicious nodule. So I had to go back for another detailed mammogram and ultrasound. It showed I have. A 8 mm well defined nodule in the upper outer quadrant of my right breast, and is due to an intramammary lymph node. The ultrasound shows no suspicious solid lesion or abnormal acoustical shadowing.

My question is wouldn't they want to do a biopsy on this or is an ultrasound 100% accurate

No, the additional views and ultrasound gave them a better look which made it appear clearly benign. That means they believe it has a less than 3% chance of being cancer and a biopsy is not necessary..

    Hi Lyndol:

If you'd like to confirm that what Melissa said is expressly reflected in your reports, please request copies of the radiologist's full reports from the mammograms and from the ultrasounds (the actual report, and not a form letter or summary).

You can check the most recent reports for Bi-Rads scores, which reflects the radiologist's view of the estimated likelihood of malignancy.

Also check the reports for any recommended follow-up examinations (e.g, six-month follow-up), and schedule an appointment now to ensure timely action (if recommended).
