I'm wearing a 30 day heart event monitor, anyone else ever have one? It's nerve wracking. It records heart arrythmias, which can range from harmless to serious.

The problem is I know when it has recorded and transmitted an event, it shows on the monitor, but I don't know what the events are- the harmless type or serious. Apparently if its very serious you get a call telling you to go to the ER.

I feel fine, but I'm only 10 days into this, 20 more to go! Its making me anxious.

I'd appreciate any words of wisdom on how to survive the waiting period till I see the cardiologist and learn what is happening.

hah! I had a monitor for a few days, the kind that does not transmit - so I didn't know what it might have been recording - the first time I went in to have it read, it hadn't worked, and I had to be strapped up to do it again. eventually, all good with me and I hope the same with you. This is the spin I would put on it if I were you: Improved technology - so it transmits in real time - if it stops working - they will be able to notify you immediately. since they are reading it in real time, they are obligated to advise you to go to the ER if they read something is dramatically wrong - but they don't expect that to happen. this is not a heart attack alarm, if it was, everyone at risk would be outfitted with one!! I would think that the fact this is a 30 day read, they are looking for subtle things and really infrequent things that might not be picked up in a shorter time span. how nerve wracking. hang in there!!!

Thanks for the help and good thoughts. It recorded a number of events today, but I'm trying to stay positive and tell myself its a good thing because it will help the Dr. figure out whats going on. As with all medical tests, the hard part is the waiting for answers.
