I am wondering how everyone picked their doctor. I am quite confused on who I should go to.

Research, word of mouth, support groups, interviews and pray. I supposedly went to the best in my area. Researched and got fantastic reviews. Left her after one year and did not go back. 4 years later, I have had a lump come back. Going back to original BS to see if we can make it work but looking for a new one. It is not a perfect science but the more you look into different ones, to me the better you feel about your situation. You have a more informed choice. Good luck.

I went to the surgeon that my gyn recommended, but after researching, I found that if I wanted to stay local there were two highly recommended breast specialists in our area and she was one of them, so I stayed with her. She was the one who referred me to the other specialists (medical oncologist, radiation oncologist). From everything I could determine, my case was fairly “standard” as these things go, so I didn’t have any reason to feel that I needed to pursue a second opinion, but if I did, I have access to both Philadelphia and New York City within an hour, so could easily have gone to any one of several major cancer centers/teaching hospitals. I preferred to stay local and so far at least, am not regretting my decision.

I went with the one recommended by a radiologist I really trusted. Awesome choice.
