Taxotere Dose Reduction

Just wondering if anyone has had to have a dose reduction?

I had my first taxatore infusion and ended up with really really bad pain so my MO reduced my next two doses by 15%.

He says this won't change the effectiveness of the treatment.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had a dose reduction and if you were told the same thing? For some reason I can't help but worry that reducing the dose means it won't kill the cancer as well.

Any thoughts

I had my taxol reduced by 15% for the last two treatments. I had the side effect of bad neuropathy and my MO was concerned by that. The reduction really helped, I only had neuropathy symptoms for the first couple of days after each treatment instead of continual and worsening.

I worried a bit about the effectiveness at the reduced dosage but my MO told me the same as yours. She also said she had to balance the potential long term damage from chemo side effects and the risk of recurrence.

I had T reduced at my last infusion by 20%, I think. I was having allergic reactions and asked MO to reduce it. I was on the fence about doing chemo anyway with my stats and onco of 21, so I was glad to have it reduced. Best wishes. Gotta do what you gotta do!:) Makes you wonder if it's over-kill in the first place...

i had both Carboplatin and Taxotere reduced by 25%. I ended up in the hospital with kidney failure. Not what you want! I'll tell you what my doctor said when I asked him the question: "Will this still work, if you cut it down?"

    Here's his answer:

YOU HAVE TO BE ALIVE for ANY of this to work!"

Um. Yeah. That's kind of important too. Hope that helps.

    Much love.
