Newly diagnosed grade 2 anyone else ?
Hi I was just recently diagnosed I was hoping to meet others in the same situation. If anyone out there has any suggestions to share about their ILC I would appreciate it.

Hi There, The dx sucks but you're in the right place. I was also Stage II grade one as you'll see from my signature line. How big is your tumor; are you PR/ER +, HER2 - or +., + lymph nodes, etc...those kinds of things that your pathology will reveal should help you make decisions on your treatment. Can you share a bit more about your situation?
Hugs,
Claire

Hi
I was stage1 grade 2. Living in Denmark almost all women less than 60 years old receive chemo. I also did that but don't think I would do it, if I was diagnosed with lobular today. I'm also on tamoxifen and not sure that it's a good idea - an AL would probably be much more efficient but except for some hot flashes I feel very good on tamoxifen so I just continue. I am 49 years olds now. 45 at diagnosis.
If I was diagnosed today (In Denmark we can't get a Onco test)I would pay attention to the ki67 - ILC is often low but not always and also to the PR status. If Ki67 is high and PR status negativ I would probably go for chemo. Just some thoughts...
Best of luck and big hug

Similar diagnosis. No chemo. Bilateral mastectomies. On tamoxifen rather than an AI as I don't like the side effect profile of AIs in particular the osteoporosis at my age - 48 at diagnosis

Hi
over 7 years out-- ILC stage 2--- lumpectomy, chemo and radiation-- doing just fine... feel great!! good luck

Thank you for posting. I was diagnosed about 3 weeks ago with ILC. Don't know stage yet. Ultra sound found 9mm tumor, MRI said it was 13mm (1.3cm). ER+ (100% strong stain) PR weak positive (5% moderate stain) and Her2 negative. Lumpectomy scheduled for Feb 16. Reason for the wait is because I want a very sought-after breast surgeon PLUS will be getting an IOERT boost during the procedure. Due to much cancer in my family, also having genetic testing/counseling done.
Hard to keep my mind on other things during this wait but this board helps when I simply MUST commune with others in the same boat.

Hi -
Diagnosed two years ago, stage 1, grade 2. I found the "thickness" in my breast, the diagnostic mammogram picked up two more. Pathology report showed a total of six: four invasive, two LCIS. Don't be surprised if final pathology report shows more than you know of now. Fun, right?

I got diagnosed in October. I think I read every article on the Internet
. The next thing I did was find a support group. They let me ask a million questions. It was great because they were each in a different phase of treatment or recovery. Try and find someone or a group in your area. It helps. I am post-mastectomy with a tissue expander. It feels like I'm going to burst any second, but everyone tells me it gets better. Plus I'm a lot perkier, than before surgery.
Hugs.

yes, dx with ILC grade 2 on 2/15. Have 2nd BS appt on Monday. Head is spinning really. Saw 1 surgeon so I have some info. Im def opting for bmx because other boob has issues too. I want them both gone with reconstruction. Ive had boob issues for 25 years. I think my HRT stirred it up and here I am. I would LOVE to keep in touch with the newbies like me here!!!!

WarriorWannabe and Numb - Sorry you find yourself here. (Numb, your username makes me so sad......we all know how you feel.....)
I was in your shoes less than 5 weeks ago and so I know you're in shock right now. Please believe me when I say that the more meetings you have with surgeon(s), oncologists, etc. and the more research you do (reputable websites like this one only, please) the easier this gets. I know everybody says this but it truly is the unknown that makes us the craziest and there's no point in this process when there will be more unknowns for you than right now. It WILL get easier as you gain more information - promise! And as you put your surgical and treatment plans together, you will feel more and more in control of this process.
My heart goes out to both of you right now.

I was just diagnosed as well. grade 2 er+/pr+ her- (think I got those right!). 2.6cm. debating lumpectomy vs mastectomy and hoping I won't need chemo. I'm really worried about heart damage from chemo and rad or stroke from the hormone drugs. stroke and early heart attacks run in my family cancer does not

Mydogspot - so sorry you had to find us but glad you're here. The lumpectomy (lx) vs mastectomy (mx) debate is a tough one for many early stage BC patients. Have you had an MRI (or will you get one) to determine if there is anything else in either of your breasts? That will help you in your decision. Your surgeon and oncologist will be able to help you understand the specific heart/stroke risks for you since that seems to run in your family. SO many things to consider and each one of us has to come to our own decision. Once you gather all the info, just listen to your intuition. It will guide you.

thanks for the welcome! my doctor thought I was high risk because one of my mom's sisters died from bc and I have very dense tissue so she had me go in for mri which found the problem. Multiple mammograms and ultrasound confirmed but thankfully only one problem found. Meeting with oncologist at University of Kansas medical center on Friday and hopefully will have a plan in place soon.

Hello ladies, I was diagnosed almost 2months ago with stage two grade 2 ILC. After genetics and MRI I decided to go with a lumpectomy which I had done 2 1/2 weeks ago. While that went well some other areas came up that my surgeon removed that also turned out to be cancer. These areas did not show up on anything so I was faced with making a decision on another lumpectomy with reconstruction or the masectomy with reconstruction. I have come to terms with the masectomy pretty easy as I am 41 year old wife with 9 & 12 year olds at home and a 22 year old daughter and 4 month old grandson. After reading lots of post on here the last couple of weeks I now realize how sneaky ILC can be and I just want to be able to move on.
