I have been experiencing pain under my arm, in the areas that were radiated 15 years ago.

Is this a common occurrence?

    nesher,

There are not likely very many members are here who had radiation so long ago and now similar pain. I'm almost 4 years out from rads and if I started to have pain in that area, I'd consider it possibly a lymphedema flare up. Another option is an inflamed lymph node that is pressing on a nerve. This may be due to infection or a virus. A visit to your PCP may be a good place to start.

Thanks for the link that you sent me.

I have also found some other articles on the topic and understand now the effects that radiation can have on the ribs and the underarms. My pain is not continuous, it comes and goes, perhaps depending on what I do with the arm or the weather.

I don't exactly have pain however about once every 6 months or so the skin where I was radiated becomes incredibly tender and sore. Usually lasts 2 or 3 days and then goes away as quickly and mysteriously as it came.
