Medical Marijuana
Hello Everyone,
With much trepidation, I am having my second chemo infusion (AC) in a few days. The first trip was very difficult. About 6 hours after the treatment, the nausea set in. It lasted 3+ days. I was in bed for nearly all that time.
I never suffered to the point of throwing up, but took the anti-nausea meds around the clock. I hardly ate at all.
Has anyone used Marijuana to alleviate chemo side effects? What was your experience? What kind did you use? How did you use it?
My doc supports this. Aside from your legal/political opinion on this matter, I would love to hear from you.

Whaf meds are you using? Emend is great. It takes taking meds before and after infusions (including the ones given at infusio ) to keep nausea under control for some.

Yup. Mmj was the only thing that got me thru AC. My MO fully supported it. It works better than anything else for nausea!

Hi gardengypsy...so sorry to hear that you had a difficult time. I am well prepared with medical marijana. And, I also have THC oil whiich is vapor form. You don't smoke it. My friend said it saved her last year when she went through chemo for breast cancer. When nausea set it, she took a few puffs and it was gone almost immediately. She actually started sprinkling some on bananas and cottage cheese which worked even better. Not only did it relieve the nausea, it helped her get a good night's sleep. My opinion? It should be legal in every state.

I vaped it a couple of times just in case, but I didn't have nausea. I always kept a little bit of something in my stomach, even if it was a small bite of cheese or something. But I think the marijuana does work.
Also, watch your calcium levels during chemo. A friends level got too high, and he was Puke city and they had to do an IV flush on him

Yes, I have Emend. It's useful. But it has its own side effects...

I appreciate your quick responses everyone! My understanding is that I should know the type I am using....different marijuana plants can be used for certain medical conditions...
Now that I have had to practically give up my beloved wine (due to high reoccurrence rates), it may make the journey more pleasant.
Gonna try it and let you know how it goes.

not only medical properties, but different psychoactive properties as well. Sativa tends to be more stimulating and psychedelic and Indica is more sedating and calming. For me, Indica is the way to go. I get much too anxious with any sativa content. Also, Indica may help you sleep. There are a number of products that just contain the CBDs without any psychoactive effects. Watch out for edibles. It's hard to know how much active ingredient is in it and it's very psychoactive. Hope that helps

Thank you.

My BS filled out the medical form today for Michigan license. I have to send a check to the govt office for processing but there are strange laws/rules here and have to figure out how to find a supplier/dispensary that is reliable. I am only looking for medible options. This is a new territory for me!!! It will take up to a month to process. I will start my first AC tx in approx 10-14 days. so I don't want to delay the processing in case I need it for the 2nd round!!!

I messaged my (Illinois) doctor's office yesterday asking if they will sign my paperwork and they said that I am the first one to ask! I suppose that isn't too surprising since it's new to IL...
