    Hello lifeofann,

I elected to have the PM (lumpectomy) and a radiologist located the tumor with an ultrasound, and then placed 4 or 6 or 8 wires (cannot remember) around the entire tumor so the surgeon can find and excise it. The area was numbed and I felt no pain. My tumor was big and required that many wires but I don't think that many wires are used if your tumor is small?? Maybe 1?

The surgery was a success and I'm happy to still have my breast.

you will make the right dicision for you.

    Good Luck.

lifeofann I had a needle localization Lumpectomy. It was not painfull. I was nervous and scared which was actually worse than the wire and surgery. I was back to work in two days. Hope that helps.

I had the needle localization and it was not painful. Once it was done I had to wait a bit for my surgery time and we had to be careful not to bump or move it
