Shoulder pain in opposite shoulder

Options

Hi everyone

I was diagnosed in Jan 2013. I had a bilateral radical mastectomy, chemo and reconstruction. In July 2014 I had the implants replaced due to problems.

I have been doing blood work., chest xrays and ultrasounds every six months so I felt pretty sure I was good.

I went to my doctor for shoulder pain that increased during exercise, driving, holding my phone to my ear etc. He did not seem concerned at all but because I am so nervous he sent me for a shoulder xray. The xray came back showing scarring. He asked me if I had ever broken my collar bone....which I have not. He then sent the xray to a radiologist for further review and I am waiting for results.

I am absolutely freaking out! After researching on the internet I am now convinced I have mets in my shoulder.....even though it is on the opposite side from where I was first diagnosed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

We are not doctors but I've had shoulder pain. The fact that it seems to happen only when in certain positions could indicate a pinch nerve or spine compression. I had shoulder pain before BC. Saw several doctors, was prescribed therapy, etc. Turned out 6 months later I had a ruptured disc and it was impinging the nerves. They couldn't tell this from the shoulder X-rays. Finally, after 6 months of really bad pain, the doctor decided to X-ray my spine. I was in surgery 2 weeks later.

Stay off Doctor Google. Most of the information is outdated anyway. I understand the fear. We all do. I had hip pain that I was convinced was mets. Turns out it was bursitis.

I always come here when I'm worried and for information. Good luck and let us know how you are doing

Thanks for your reply. Feeling a little calmer now. I have OCD and anxiety so if I let my thoughts get away from me I end up a mess.

The doctor sent me this message after I told him how concerned I was:

"I'm getting a radiologist to read it out of interest as to the incidental finding not because I think it's related to your previous illness. Take it easy. It'll be fine."

    So I am feeling better.
