nervous and feeling alone
Hi ladies,
I am doing well, with the exception of the voice in my head that tells me I should not be. I wonder if I am truly an anomaly, or if anyone else has a similar situation. I had a large tumor (2.5cm) that lay in my breast for years ( either misdiagnosed as b9, or turned cancerous). I am so sick of hearing about early detection. Money and resources need to go toward preventing, or healing recurrence/mets. Anyway, my lymph nodes were negative. I am er/pr strongly positive. Onco 17, Miotic rate of 1, scary ki-67 of 25. grade 2/3. I am thrilled with the negative nodes, but I obsess over how it could sit and not spread, when some women have a tumor for a few months that spreads. Has anyone else had a tumor for a long time?

Wanted to echo the mods, you are not alone. The women (and men) here are full of knowledge and support. Also wanted to say that while the uncertainty about whether the cancer has spread is always scary, your oncotype and uninvolved lymph nodes are reassuring (obviously only in the relative sense! BUT i have fairy similar stats and my dr told me it wasnt a "nasty" tumor, so its all relative!). I was told by my dr that a tumor has been in the body for 10 years by the time it was palpable!

Hi
You are never alone here. I am 7 years out. Had a 2.5 tumor (which I don't consider that large). Slow growing. Never picked up on mammograms which I had regularly. Onc said it had probably been there for 8-10 years. So I was at first pissed. Then finally I was grateful that they found it. No nodes and I am doing just fine now. It takes time to accept that this has happened. For me, very early on , I decided to frame my experience as lucky it was found, lucky I had access to good medical care, health insurance, support.... I know this approach doesn't work for everyone but I adopted it after reading a post from the Stage 4 group. Someone said:
If You spend all of your time worrying about this and it advances, you have wasted that time. And if it never advances and you jive to a rise old age and have worried about it all that time, you haven't enjoyed your life. I took this to heart but it took a while. So be patient with yourself and keep think about reframing!

Jojo. Hi there. You are not alone. we are all here for you. I don't think your tumor would be considered large and most breast cancers have been there for many years before being detected. I also think its a good sign that even though your tumor has been around for awhile it still has not spread to your nodes. Feel free to private message me if you want to talk more. Good luck and keep us posted

HI Jojo
I'm sorry you are here . You are not alone. I'm so glad you found this site and you will find amazing support from an amazing group of knowledgeable ,kind, gracious women. I am 5 years out, similar diagnosis. I'm doing well physically, mentally, I still think about it. I had read the same passage that momand2kids noted in her response to you. I agree its great advice and am working on that place.
I hope you get your appointments and second opines all arranged and I am certain you will feel better after a plan is developed and you know what you're dealing with. Keep us posted and let us know how you are getting on.
