Hi all, this is my first time posting. I have my 6 month follow up next week for a possible fibroadenoma in my right breast. 6 months ago, i felt something under my arm that i could not explain. They sent me for an ultrasound and was told i have a possible fibroadenoma. Since that dx, ive been having visible swelling off and on in the armpit area that i think are my lymph nodes, itching, dull pain in my arm, and neck pain that starts later in the day. Doc (PA)seems to think its related to my cycle but honestly, it so random. Im 33 years old. No history that im aware of but then again i can only go back as far as my mother. I guess i just want to know if swelling of lymph nodes in that area of the breast is common for fibroadenomas.

    Hi Rdelagarza-

Fibroadenomas typically don't cause swelling of the lymph nodes, but there are many, many things that can, so even though they're close in proximity, they're not necessarily connected. It could be hormonal, or some kind of infection, or your body fighting off an illness. Bring it to your doctor's attention at your follow-up, but try not to worry too much about it!

Thanks for the reply. PA is aware of the swelling and did tell me its most likely from the fibroadenoma, which is why i havent seeked a second opinion in the last 6 months. I just second guessed it since it doesent seem to corrolate to my cycle. Sometimes swelling starts right after my cycle, sometimes it swells more than once a month, which is what sent me looking for more info.
