I did chemo with an oncotype score of 30. I had very low PR and a very high Ki67, in addition to very high ER (high ER % kept my score out of high risk). My mitosis was a three in my grade. It seemed that chemo might be effective with those indicators. And because I have difficulties with reaction to medications, I also was concerned that I might not tolerate AIs. Chemo was the safety net. Turned out I did fine on AIs, but because I had chemo, I've decided to not continue another 5 years on an AI. The benefit would be very small.

I haven't seen anything that supports more than 5 years on AI drugs is beneficial neither has my oncologist.

A recent study showed no benefit for overall survival, but a 28% benefit for preventing contralateral BC and mets. If the study had run another 5 years or so, the overall survival data may have started to reflect the impact of mets on those not taking letrazole. This info is posted in a few forums here. This isn't directly related to this topic.

This gets, though, to what % reduction of recurrence risk can one handle. No one can get to zero and there is no way to know if you'll beat the odds.

It sure is about calculated risks. Really is an individualized recommendation given how you tolerate AI drugs and the added benefit of reduction in cancer risk.
