Switching Chemo Meds mid-cycle..... HELP! (Taxol)

So my mom's treatment plan was Fec-d and she has done the first 3 of Fec, she was supposed to start on the taxotere tomorrow but the doctor isn't happy with how she is reacting with the meds and especially the neupogen. So he has decided to switch her to Taxol. Now instead of 3 more treatments, every 3 weeks, she is being told it is 12 more treatments, once a week, no neupogen.

For those on Taxol, are the side effects easy to cope with?

Thanks!

I don't know about Fec, I had 4 * A/C every two weeks, and to me weekly Taxol for 12 weeks was much easier. Though I do know others may disagree. The weekly tx's mean that they can give a lower dose than if done at less frequent intervals, and so side effects should not be as severe. I had and needed anti-sickness drugs and neupogen for AC but not for Taxol. I did get an antihistamine whilst getting the Taxol dose and also a steroid. I noticed the effects of the steroid the first day - my friends reported I would be v chatty! I don't think I was safe to drive that day - but luckily always had someone with me at appointments. That night I often stayed up quite late - as I would always wake early in the morning if not. I have got some neuropathy two years on and still have a little numbness in my toes and pad of my foot.

I wish your Mom all the best and a comfortable time during treatment.

    Sarah
