.4 white blood cell count

Over the weekend, I went to the hospital for flu-like systems. They did blood tests, gave me an antibiotic and told me to call my onc on Monday. I was looking over my blood tests and my WBC is .4, which seems really low. I've had 1 AC treatment and the next is 1/5. My onc doesn't give the neulasta shot every time, only as needed. What should I expect? If I get the shot, would there be enough time for my levels to rise in time for next treatment or should I expect it to be delayed?

How often do you get the AC chemo lawyer ?

I'm on TC every 3 weeks and in between Oncologist checks my Blood...

After the first one it was on the low side 3.2 and i got the injection

And it was normal for my second chemo

    Thinking of you..Hugs

4 rounds of AC every 3 weeks followed by 12 weekly rounds of Taxol.

    Thanks!

    1. That's very low. I have been dealing with severe neutropenia on and off through chemo. Why won't they give you the Neulasta on body injector? I had AC every 2 weeks and needed it.
    2. When I started weekly taxol, I was delayed a week because you can't have Neulasta on a weekly schedule and my counts were .9 WBC and .2 ANC (i've gone as low as .1) It took 5 daily Neupogen shots to get me back up. I had to request to switch to DD Taxol just to get Neulasta again because the insurance won't cover prophylactic Neupogen and I was unwilling to risk further delay.
    3. I hope you feel better!
    4. And I have no idea why there are suddenly numbers appearing on my paragraphs.

I've struggled with Neutropenia too. Round 1 my Neutrophils bottomed out at 0.0. Temp of 38.6. Four days in hospital on IV antibiotics. Sure I only got through Round 2 by "fudging" a prescription for antibiotics from a "couldn't care less" Dr at a walk in clinic even though I had a Neulasta injection. Now a week out from infusion 3 my temperature is rising and I'm feeling very "ordinary". Chemo sucks.

I had my blood test today - it was day 11 from AC treatment. My neutrophils were at .7, so I had to have a neulasta shot. I'm told that I'll get it automatically at day 10 or 11 with each treatment.

Mind you Smurfette and I are in Australia so our health system is a bit different to the USA. There are no insurance issues, if we need something, we automatically get it.

Smurfette (((hugs))) hope you start feeling better soon.

Trish my breast nurse comes to my house to administer my Neulasta injection approx 24 hours after the end of my infusion. Last week chemo ended just after Midday; she was here about 1.30pm the following day to give me the shot. xx

So I spoke to my nurse this morning and she said my neutrophils (sp?) were 0.00, so I'd be getting the shot next treatment (automatic injector so I don't have to drive back). I was concerned about what to do in the meantime and she essentially said don't worry, they usually bounce back pretty quickly and "don't be around sick people." She said she'd talk to the Dr when she came in and would call if the Dr had anything different to add. This particular nurse has been a source of misinformation in the past and I am feeling somewhat unsettled about this whole thing. She seemed cavalier about it, when from what I've been reading, it could easily turn into something serious.

Your ANC, neutrophil count is what they'll look at. Yours sounds low, and you should call. They'll likely give you neupogen

lawyer180 monitor your temperature closely. When our Neutrophils bottom out like that we have absolutely no resistance to infection.

I record my temp twice a day as that's really our first indicator of infection.

My first round landed me in hospital for 4 days on IV antibiotics but my temp was 38.6.
