Radiation tattoos - cover up tattoo

So..the radiation dot in between my breasts apparently looks like a blackhead (thanks DH for your insight). No one sees it unless I'm in a bathing suit but I'm thinking of making it into a tiny little heart. Anyone else do the same or think of it? I'm really tempted.

Many Drs will remove rad tats for free. Ask the Nurse Navigator at the Facility you go to. You might also want to call local tat parlors and them for recommendations of who to contact for removal. I had 4 little blue 'freckles' from my rads. None were (or are) visiable (not even in swimsuit) except when no clothes at all on or for Dr exams. One went away on 'its own' within a year, another one is almost gone and the other 2 are getting gradually lighter.

My 6 tattoos from a little more than 3 years ago are almost all invisible--they changed from "blackheads" to light, small freckles. Now I have to hunt to locate 5 of them (even on my very fair skin). No real need to intervene and go through another procedure if patience works for you.

Thank you, tgtg, I was just wondering if I should get my blue tattoos removed (simply because they distress me/remind me of radiation). Now I know they will fade. So in the meantime, every time I see them and start to feel icky, I'll just try to remind myself that I got through it with grace. (And with the help of people here.) We women are tough.

I'm still thinking of using that dot as a jumping point to make something pretty. I hated tattoos but I got a tiny one on the inside of my wrist after my treatment and now I'm thinking of a tiny pink heart.

I wanted to get rid of my radiation tattoos but couldn't be bothered getting another procedure done. When I had to have targeted rads for bone pain, they were able to use my existing tattoos instead of going through another planning session every time I need some "spot welding" Just something to think about... It is funny, I had truly forgotten I had mine until I saw this post (I got done with radiation in June 2015). But mine are on my back, so I don't ever see them.

    JJOntario,

GO FOR IT!! I think a little pink heart is adorable and appropriate.

My rad tats are barely visible but my lumpectomy scar is 4" long across the top of my breast. I did not want any more PS so I had a tat of a vine of red and yellow chili peppers to cover it. love it, so much that I went back and extended the vine all the up to my shoulder.

    Careful.....tattoos can be addicting.

My DD and I are getting matching small tats of yin yang. I'm yin (shade) she's yang (sun)
