Thermography
Hello, It has been some time since posting here. My journey began approx. three years ago when I discovered a lump in my rt breast. I have been monitored for the past three years with no changes. Originally it was every three months, then graduated to every six months. The radiologists report stating it was most likely fibroadenoma. Well, about 2 - 3 months ago I noticed it felt larger. I opted to go have a thermography so that I would have another tool in my toolbox. The report from the thermography came back as consistent with fibrocystic breast (which I have been told repeatedly over the past three years from my bs). And they recommended a follow-up thermography in three months. I'm 46 yrs old and definitely premenopausal. I've begun taking holy basil, turmeric, multi vitamin, and dim150. And I am feeling great (except for the lump). However, I am also now due for my 6 month follow up ultrasound. My husband and I decided it was best to go ahead and follow thru with this appointment too. I have the ultrasound on Monday. I'm a nervous wreck ... I keep telling myself not to be. I'm expecting the radiologist to recommend a biopsy at this point. I've not had one as of yet. I definitely side on the natural side of treatment. But, I have a 9 yr old and 5 yr old that I have to think about too. Would you do the biopsy (if recommended) even though thermography isn't mentioning anything cancer related. Does anyone else have any experience with thermography? Thanks.

I would do the biopsy since more information is never dangerous.

Same here. Natural treatments are fine for some things, but IMO you need to know exactly what you are treating. A needle biopsy is a pretty simple procedure.

any sort od invasive procedure is dangerous. I was advised to have the cyst, the biggest one, aspirated 43 years before it showed was getting bad.

I have not had a fibroadenoma, but my daughter did. She elected to have it removed, no biopsy. I skipped the biopsy with my cancerous growth and went straight to excisional biopsy/lumpectomy. I just didn't want to mess around with the biopsy portion, and neither did my daughter. Since it continues to stress you, it might be a reasonable option to have it removed.
I am not a good referral for thermography because my thermography said the right breast had signs of cancer, and left one was clear. After ultraound, mammogram, MRI, pet scan, I had the lump removed in the left breast and it was cancerous. There is nothing going on in my right breast. How deep is your fibroadenoma? From what I understand, thermography only detects issues close to the surface.
I am not a cheerleader for traditional treatment, trust me, I had started on IV vitamin c, etc., and my holistic doctor said get the mammogram, pet, etc. after she did an ultrasound. And I was too scared not to do both traditional and alternative treatment

so this post should be on the complementary thread

I have written about Thermography before. To recap:
"...And as for thermography - although I believe it can be helpful in understanding the overall state of your breasts it MUST NOT BE USED AS A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL.
The day before I did my biopsy I did a thermogram and it did not show that I had cancer."
The biopsy very much showed that I had cancer. Am so glad I didn't rely on thermography only but used it in addition to ultrasounds and mammography (which also didn't "see" my cancer).

Thank You all for the comments. It is certainly helpful to come here and get others experiences and advice.
I had my ultrasound today. And as I'd expected they are recommending a biopsy. Although the radiologist did say that the large palpable lump does seem very consistent with the others they have been monitoring for the past three years & those all appear to be fibroadenomas. Their findings today were also consistent with my thermography. So the next step is to followup with my surgeon on January 18th. She said she didn't want the biopsies done until I see her. They said today that the palpable lump could even be done in the surgeons office if she so chooses. So, I'm feeling pretty good. Not excited about a biopsy and still the true diagnosis after that. But it certainly is looking hopeful.
