What can cause enlarged breast ducts?

Hello,

I am waiting to see the breast surgeon to go over the results of my ultrasound.

I had a diagnostic ultrasound due to a lump found near my nipple. When compared to last ultrasound there has been a marked increase in duct size. Will likely have a biopsy next week..

Does anyone have good info and/or links on causes of enlarged breast ducts? Mine can easily be felt and are tender. One option was to recheck in six months but I'd rather biopsy for peace of mind (plus the ducts hurt! ouch!)

Assuming everything comes back benign, I'd like to see what I can do to treat them and decrease the pain.
