I am a uni 3 years out from reconstruction. I wish I was more symmetrical and recently found out shaped implants are now available in larger sizes than they used to be. Has anyone switched from round to shaped? I know it's not just a simple swap, but wondering if it might be worth it.

I have shaped implants (cohesive gels aka gummy bears). I would suggest that you meet with your PS and ask to see the sample implants they have. I couldn't decide between saline, silicone rounds and cohesive gels and the various issues with each until we sat down and I could see and feel all three. Your PS might give you other options that would match your other breast to your existing implant if you decided to go that way. Best wishes

Thanks grammakathy. I have met with my PS and we discussed the exchange and I held the implants. Nothing has been decided upon yet. I know the pocket for a shaped is different than the round and was wondering if anyone had a successful exchange to shaped.

My surgeon ended up replacing my style 20 700cc rounds with style 15 616cc. As far as I can tell with all of the swelling, my native breast and my reconstructed side seem more symmetrical.

Good! I hope as things settle down, you will be happier with your results. I'm getting to the point where I forget about my cancer and reconstruction now. Life is moving on for me. Best wishes
