Bump on rib
Conveniently I have a doctors appointment on Monday so I can talk to him about it but I just wanted to see if anyone had something similar. I've had a lot of tenderness in my ribs under my breast, but then I started having some pain that was lower, which I thought was outside of the radiation field. I started to feel my ribs, both sides, and the side with the pain has Kind of a fat spot. It's not a bump you could move, it's just an inch and a half or 2 inches where the rib bumps out, and the rib on the other side is normal. Did anybody experienced this? I just can't help but ask now but I will see my doctor on Monday.

I have not experience this. I am hoping others with more input will be along soon.

I do have that! And they cannot tell me what it is! It really bothers me sometimes, and I don't know what it is either. Maybe a lipoma?
-
I think a lipoma is movable. Does yours move? This is like the bone is swollen.
-
Thats what mine feels like, too. They keep telling me it's my rib, but they supposedly biopsied it a year and a half ago. Benign tissue. But, something is really going on there, it has been stinging and burning, and I can feel a sharp edge to it. My Bitch ass bs refuses to take it out, that's what she told me when I saw her a few weeks ago for something else. Mine does not move. When they imaged it before, my previous surgeon said it palpated much larger than it actually was. It feels much bigger to me now. BS said it was a node, and she wouldn't take it out. Dam. I am up for my mammogram next tuesday, and I am going to insist that they also look at it with ultra sound. It's just not right. That's what it feels like, The bone is swollen! I think its something adhered to the bone. I don't trust the doctors all that much, because, as you will see, there are many ladies here who have recurred, even tho they have been "being watched", and it was pretty big when they discovered a new one. I hate this crap
-
ok that totally sucks. I wonder what they will say to me

I don't know, but there is this other thread that I practically live on, and you should come see us there. It's called crazytown, and here is the link for you. A lot of compassionate ladies with big imaginations, we carry each other through with laughter and talk of food, families, jobs, etc. And you can let your crazy out. I highly recommend it, read from the first page if you can, to get to know us better, or just jump right in! I do hope we find out what it is. Please Tell your doc about it, and I will let you know what they say on tuesday. Here's the link:https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/84/topics/833500?page=1 Come join us! getting an x Ray so that's good

Keep us posted
-
That's great! I go in for my smash-ogham in about an hour, i am going to ask them to put the us on it, or tell them I am worried about a blood clot, I do take tamoxifen..
-
x Ray looks good, it's just swelling popped the bone out.
-
Great news!!
-
what swelling?!? And how could it pop the bone out?!!? That doesn't make any sense to me! But, unfortunately, it does sound like an answer they would give to me too. Has that ever happened to you BEFORE all of this!?!?! I am sorry, I don't want to disturb you, but that just doesn't sound right. They just spent about a half an hour on me today, supposedly measuring (with an ultrasound) something that they tell me is not a problem. Why so much time on it, and why all the extra views of mammograms?. And then they told me there is also a cyst in my breast that was never there before. that (I told them there was something there) has been causing sharp burning pains for almost a year. When I told them about it last time, they said they couldn't see it nor feel it, when I clearly could. It makes me have tears of rage when they don't believe me...
-
no that has never happened before this, but since it is on the side of my surgery and resignation, I guess there's a lot of general swelling, and I think one of my students probably headbutt me several weeks ago and caused enough swelling to maybe just move it. Because there is a lot of cartilage , it's one of the lower ribs so it's attached to the other ribs by cartilage.
-
I am glad for you that you found out what it is! And that it is nothing dangerous. As for me, they took so many extra pictures of both breasts this time, that I began to get very scared. And, an Ultra sound on my so called good boob for the first time ever. Twice. And then I over heard one of them say the cyst is unchanged. What cyst? this is the first I have heard of it. And my BS is also so rushing in, rushing back out, that she didn't say why they were looking at my left breast... worries me.
Thanks for visiting us in C-town, I hope you come back there! Peppy(edited to say 'Beppy') is really a wonderful woman.

I too have a bump onset my rib. The size is 1x3 cm. the dr sees it and feels it but it did not show up on the ultrasound. That was 1 mo ago. Now I have pain under my arm and deep along the side of my scar of my lumpectomy anytime I lift my arm or reach for something. I thought the 36 weeks of radiation would kill everything. I am a 4 yr breast ca. Survivor. I am very worried!!! And on top of everything else I moved to another state and I DO NOT have a dr here.
