divine, if I recall correctly it was less than a year. I was lucky to find a lawyer who not only specialized in medical malpractice, but 80% of his cases were breast cancer. And he almost never lost a case. Mostly because he would only take a case if he thought it was winnable. But, the guy knew what he was doing for sure. I had to gather ALL of my medical records, which wasn't too hard because we had been collecting them as we went? So we had most. The attorney sends those on to various doctors to be thoroughly reviewed. One of the doctors found a discrepancy between the two ultrasounds and bam.. there was my case. I had to sign a bunch of papers and do a lot of waiting, mostky. I wasn't too involved until the deposition which took about three hours. It was hard because I had to relive every second of the Dx and the treatment and talk about how I was now going to die and leave my children without a mother...lots of harsh reality while things were still really raw for me.After that they made an offer to settle and we took it. I could have held out for a little more but I was tired of the process and I had my win. It wasn't in the millions or anything (Cali has some caps on settlements that other states do not) but I think it was substantial.

Stef, that's nice of you to explain how your case unfolded. It sounds like one key factor was hiring a competent lawyer with this type of experience. The deposition sounds like it was understandably difficult.I imagine it's mixed feelings knowing you were in the right but I'm glad that you were able to prove your case.

is anyone else taking the combination femera and ibrance . I just started my third round of these medications and am wondering how it was working for you. I have had some side effects but nothing I cant handle. The worst part is the fatigue. Anyone else having side effects. Thanks

Lissalou, there's an entire thread devoted to it. Many ladies on the thread. fatigue is the most common side-effect I've heard of.

I did win a settlement and I did bring about change. The hospital now offers all women the choice of having a 3D mammogram or not. The money, while not a huge amount, does help pay some bills and allows for a vacation a couple times a year. So yes it was definitely worth my time and effort.
