New mass 3 months after BMX
I was dx as Stage IIb triple positive Jan 2015. Did AC-T with Herceptin and Perjeta. Had bilat total skin-sparing mastectomy with expanders in Aug and was told I had a pCR. Just had exchange surgery 2 weeks ago and I'm still doing Herceptin every 3 weeks.
This morning I find a very hard, but small lump just below the original tumor location. It feels like a bb. Definitely not fibrous like scar tissue and I feel it on top of the implant. It feels very superficial but my skin is obviously very thin from the type of MX I had.
I'm at that stage where evey ache, pain, swelling, etc makes me think it's more cancer but seriously I just can't think of what else this would be! I'm scheduled to see the PS for a follow up in 2 weeks but I know it's going to drive me absolutely batty until I see him.
Anyone else experience anything similar? Any words of wisdom? Should I try to get in sooner?
I think I'll email the PS and just let him know and if he wants me to come in sooner then I will. Arrggghh...

I had something similar and it turned out to be fat necrosis. My surgeon saw the crazy in my eyes and did an excision al biopsy. Sorry you have to go through this!
-
Thanks little blue! I hope that's all it is and there will definitely be crazy in my eyes by the time I get in to see him!!!
I emailed my PS, BS, and MO just to keep the whole team in the loop. I feel kinda helpless so that made me feel better to at least tell them
-
hopefully one of them will be able to see you sooner. I am dealing with the same thing; marble sized lump; just sooooooooo "done" with this. Feel free to pm to vent anytime. I truly feel your pain

Kbee you mentioned on the other forum that you had something similar after fat grafting. That gave me a little relief but then I started thinking about it and I don't think there was any fat grafting to that part of the breast. Hmmm...I'll have to go look at the operative report again.
So far I've heard back from the BS nurse and she said that she forwarded the message on to the BS but she thinks she will probably recommend one of the NPs take a look at it when I go in for my PS follow up. I love that my team is all in the same building...I just disrobe and they all come filtering through to have a look/feel LoL
-
that is nice that they are all together in one building. I had fat grafting to several areas. Crossing my fingers it's just fat necrosis or scar tissue. Hoping we can both have good news and have this behind us for the holidays

Small size hard lumps on top of the implant are often scar tissue. My breast surgeon felt one such lump at my very first post-exchange checkup, I found another one in the other breast myself. My breast surgeon told me that by the feel of it she was 90% positive it was scar tissue. I was advised however, to monitor for growth. This was about a year and a half ago. I do check them once in a while but not as often as I used to.

Thank you muska! Puts my mind at ease a little...

Bekah, did they get back to you? Do you have to wait 2 weeks, or can you get in sooner? I have 6 more days. I am going to beg him to just stick a needle in it then so I can have answers a few days later! I am pretty sure he will since last time they were all 99% sure it was scar tissue (and were wrong). Certainly they can't expect me to be calmed if that's what they think it is!!!!!
I hope get in soon and get some answers

My appointment is next Wed so I too have 6 days to wait. The PS nurse replied to my email and said that it might be a deep suture but they will definitely check it out next week. It is a bit unnerving but I'm not letting myself get overly worked up until they've had a chance to feel it.
I hope they biopsy yours and just get it out of the way! You need to know what you're dealing with!
Bekah

I've been staying really busy at work so the days have passed surprisingly quickly. Hopefully we'll both get good news next Wednesday
