I'm here too. I'll be four years out in Feb. I know the terror of the initial diagnosis and am also here to help!
Hi Seachain! Did you make it five years on AIs? I'm struggling.
-
Hi seachain!
I'm just 1.5 years from my diagnosis. Just finishing up Herceptin and taking my AI. Still working to get my blood pressure down, though.
-
Hi, there. Also an Okie. I know Mags is also from Oklahoma. I'm 3 years from initial diagnosis, 1 yr 4 mos of those are Stage 4. Stable 4 now. CT scan on Tuesday. Maybe as we hear from more we can plan a get together. Mags and I had a great lunch together recently. Farmer Lucy and I keep trying to meet up but life gets in the way.....we are such social girls.

Me! I'm in OKC.
-
Hi y'all, I'm in NE Oklahoma!
-
Pinktober is coming. Maybe we could meet somewhere.
-

Hi Dodes,
I live in Eufaula. Recently diagnosed with DCIS but still waiting for full pathology report to see if it is invasive. My husband and I are retired and just recently moved to OK. Although I am very grateful McAlester Womens Health found the microfications and did the biopsy, I do not know if I feel comfortable in a small town for surgery and treatment. May I ask you where you had surgery and treatment and why you chose the facility you did?
I hope you are doing well!
Thanks if you can help

Hi! Another okie here.

-
Hey ladies- hope you are doing well. Today is my six year cancerversary. Woohoo
Heading to Denver to see my granddaughter. Gotta get out of here before the ice storm hits. Stay warm

Hello!
Edmond/OKC area
-
Hi Leee!
I'm in Norman. DH works at UCO.
-
Hi! I lived in Norman until we moved here about 5 years ago.
-
I’m in Norman, too. Just saw Beatmon last week. She’s In Edmond.
-
Hi! I'm new here, and new to DCIS. I am having an MRI tomorrow, in OKC. I realize this thread is old, but maybe there's someone out there in OK that needs to talk.
-
I’m still here. Coming up on eight years out in a few months. Cancer has just been woven into the fabric of my life.
I highly recommend you take the meds pre MRI. Makes it a lot easier! Hugs
-
Hello there!
I ended up taking something to calm my nerves before the MRI. I’m so glad that I did! I still almost freaked out.
-
Glad it went ok. Hoping for no more surprises. Be sure to ask for the complete written report. Let us know how it’s going!

Just now seeing this thread. I am in T-town. Struggling with Tamoxifen right now. I’ve maybe done three years of AI’s/Tamoxifen and I want to throw in the towel. I was just adjusting to the hot flashes when the nausea started and wouldn’t go away. Taking a break to try to reset—try again before I see my ONC in a couple of months. Switched from AI’s in May and thankfully the debilitating bone/spinal pain went away. I turn 39 next week and am just flat-outbummed right now.
-
Tamoxifen is no fun. I only managed four years of that chit. However I still have major hot flashes and I’ve been off it a couple of years. Guess the oophorectomy is the root cause of that. The thing I liked about Tamoxifen is that I felt like it gave me a little estrogen boost compared to the AIs. None of it was fun. I feel for you. Women were not built to be estrogen deserts.
-
My MRI results were very good. The cancer is just in the one spot that they already knew about. I consult with a surgeon on September 10th.
-
That is GREAT news! Good luck with your appointment.
-
I am having a lumpectomy on Monday. I really like the surgeon, yet I'm concerned that I'll accidentally end up with a mastectomy. It's an irrational fear.
-
Good luck on Monday! No way re: mastectomy instead. The surgeon generally goes over the exact procedure and marks you up while you’re awake. I did ask for a wire guided excisional biopsy the second time around. I feel really safe when I have surgery. I figure there is a small army of people who only job is to keep me safe.
-
I am scheduled to do internal partial breast radiation the week of November 11th. I am having the SAVI device inserted in a surgery the Wednesday before. I am thankful that I am able to do a one week radiation course instead of the 6 week course, but I'm nervous about the device insertion and living for over a week with the catheter sticking out of my skin. Yikes.
How is everyone doing?
-
Good luck with your radiation gray skies.
Can anyone recommend a plastic surgeon or breast surgeon in the OKC metrowho could take out these implants? It’s winter again and these things are like ice cube. I think I want them out.
-
I don't know if she takes out implants, but Sara Suthers at Mercy is an awesome breast surgeon. She is funny and competent.
-
Cool! Mercy is where I had my surgery.
-
I have been very happy with my treatment through the Mercy system.
