How to increase my platelet. is it normal?

Hi Everyone,

I am asking for help and information on my situation. I have been completed my 4 round chemo starting Oct 15-ended Nov 5 (3-week cycle) in 2015. However. on the Nov. 5th, blood work, my platelet went down to 30. in the past 3 weeks, I did repeated blood test. platelet still 30-40, white blood cell count is about 2.2. I was asked to do bone marrow test. I just wondered if anyone had this kind of situation and waited for couple months to get recovered. or it was truly pernment damage to my bone marrow. my spleen and liver are both normal after altrasound checkup.

We're sure some others will be by shortly to share their thoughts/advice on increasing your platelet count. In the meantime, you may want to check out the main Breastcancer.org site's pages on Bleeding and Bruising Problems, which offers some advice on what to do if you have low platelet counts.

Also, the page on Blood Cell Counts suggests asking your doctor about Neumega (chemical name: oprelvekin), a medicine that increases platelet counts.
