Neulasta bone pain help!

it is the middle of the night and I am in agony. I had neulasta 6 days ago and have had some bone pain here and there all week but suddenly tonight my lower back and hips decide to blow up with pain like I've never felt before (and I have given birth). If I move around it gets better but not for long (and I would love to sleep!) ugh!

I have been taking Claritin. I have been taking Tylenol every so often and that was helping. Tonight nothing helps. I broke out the oxycodone and I am still hurtin for certain.

Anyone else have this experience? What did you do to make it not so awful?

I'm so sorry you are having a hard time. I did Neulasta x8 during chemo, and had some pretty tough bone pain, too, which Claritin did not touch. Have you tried a soak in a warm bath? There were some days during my chemo that I took 4 or 5 . It felt like I was living in the bathtub, but it seemed to be the place where I was a bit more comfortable. Epsom salts, or Aveeno bath treatment (oatmeal sprinkles, basically) were, soothing.

Hang in there. You can do this.

oh, and talk to your doc or nurse as soon as you can. You never know if they can suggest something for you to try.

Aleve seems to help some with Neulasta bone pain, even more than narcotics.  I would combine Aleve with a very warm bath or shower and continue with a heating pad.

my wife to had those issues when she was getting her neulasta shot. Dr. said it was normal -- it was her bones (bone marrow) creating more white blood cells. He suggested that the night before the neulasta shot to take Claritin and as someone else pointed out aleve. for some reason taking Claritin and aleve starting the day before then for the next week seemed to help my wife out a lot.

good luck.. hope the aleve, Claritin and hot showers/baths help

I feel you! The Neulasta was the worst part, really. I did try steroids the last few rounds and it was a bit better, but mostly I just sat in agony on days 4-5 after the shot, no pain killers or Clarirtin worked and it was a bit like labor in that a wave of pain would wash over me every 5 minutes. I was going to skip the shot the last two treatments, but decided against it because I had such good fortune to make it through treatmentwithout delay, working full time etc. I just started taking Friday afternoons off and hung out at home, it sucked but I made it. Ask about the steroids though, I would take the night before the Neulasta and continue for 6 days after, it did help.

Bow, good tip, I will keep that in my pocket. This time I haven't had the terrible pain, just the smaller pains. I didn't miss any claritin doses though! I tried the aleve last time and it did help. I "only" have to do it three more times...
