Teva "brand" of generic tamoxifen
I have been taking Teva generic tamoxifen for 11 months. I just got a new perscription and the pills look different, although the label is the same. Previously, the pills had a number imprinted on them , I think it was "93 782". The new pills are larger and have "WPI 2233" imprinted on them. WPI stands for "Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc." . Three years ago, Watson merged with Actavis, then Actavis merged with Allergan, now Allergan has sold its generic business to Teva. I am worried that these new pills might be old (pharmacist said experation date was 2018) but more importantly, that they may have different fillers because size is different, and I will get different side effects - I have been tolerating tamox fairly well. So my question for the board is, if you take Teva generic tamoxifen, what is imprinted on your pill and where do you get it from? my pharmacy was recently bought out by Kroger, and the pharmacist says that they have to use Krogers "warehouse". I wonder if I should call around for some of my original pills. Thank you!

This happened to us with a different med (for one of my daughters) and we switched drug store chains to still get TEVA. In general, TEVA brands are better in my opinion, fewer fillers and also less lactose. Now, with the mergers, not sure what will happen, but your issue is with the drug store's distributor changing, not TEVA.

eta-deleted a link that didn't work. My current RX is TEVA with a number 93 782 imprinted
I've been on Teva, Mylan & Watson. I get my Rx at CVS. It just depends on what's available to them. Since I have lots of SEs, I was hoping the different brands would make a difference. Not so for me. Perhaps you will remain SE-free. I'm a half empty glass person BTW

I just started mine last week and they are the Teva brand. I get mine through my insurance mail order pharmacy - Express Scripts

Hi -
I am back on tamoxifen for my reoccurence. I have the markings on my pills as WPI 2233 also. Have you noticed that the side effects of this pill are the same as Teva or are they different?
My first time around I did have bad side effects - joint pain, hot flashes, weight gain, vaginal dryness, moodiness, etc. I am not sure which brand of Tomixifen I took those 5 years but I am hoping that the side effects have gotten better.
Thanks for any info you can share!
