LCIS and screening for BRCA

my apologies if this is addressed in another forum.

After my boost and follow up lumpectomy should LCIS I was referred to MO to discuss tamoxifen. At that veal I was referred to genetics to disc if I should be screened for BRCA gene. On initial view I can say I have no family hx of breast ca; however w only one sister one paternal Aunt and a mother who was adopted, the family history is small. My

Mothers unknown history does not play in to current Rec for screening guidelines. So after that visit and previously deciding w BS that BMX was best decision for me, I elected not to pay out of pocket for something I was not considered at risk for carrying. (Side note other medical hx fam hx made tamoxifen not a supported option by MO).

Now I can pay out of pocket for the test but disc w BS DH as well as DD that unless I have BC then LCIS is not a risk factorofnxoncern for DD.

So, do you know when you are settled and someone tips the apple cart.....

I met w MO again today because she ordered a thrombophilia/ clotting eval because of significant family history of stroke.

MO stated if it was her she would do the BRCA test. MO said so much is unknown about LCIS other than knowing if it increases the risk. Maybe my risk is increased because if BRCA.

MO said if I had DCIS or ?IDC then my adoptive mother would have been considered a risk and screening would be rec. MO said I should do it because of the related ovarian portion of BRCA.

So, my first response is why the **** didn't she just say that months ago. Oh that's right MO signed off the letter from the genetics program counselor.

I was able to meet w same genetics counselor today and just bit the billet and am being tested for the top 5 genes. 2 weeks to wait for answers.

Pos or neg still having BMX due to other factors, but am frustrated.

Anyone have similar issues w counseling for genetics?

I declined the on sale for 99$ test that looks at about 20 different cancer markers. Too many Pandora boxes. What would be the chance of all negative. Already have enough unknown increased risks.
