Waiting and worried
I have fibrocystic breast so I am used to finding lumps, but the one that I found about a month ago now did not go away like the other ones usually do. It was time for my mammogram anyway so I went this past Thursday and had it done. I called my dr. this morning to get results. They told me I had several small density's in both breast, which is pretty normal for me. They said I had a soft density in the left breast near the axilla (sp?) so they want me to have a spot compression done on that breast and an ultrasound on both breast. I have been told before by usually the xray tech about lumps in my breast, but they told me that it did not look like anything to be worried about. The xray tech did tell me last week that the radiologist might want me to come back and take more pictures because of finding the lump, but when I asked if she saw something I should be worried about she said I wouldn't know. Still tried not to worry because I figured she just wasn't supposed to answer a question like that. Now with them requesting more test I'm getting concerned. I have a sister who currently has stage IV colon cancer that has spread to the liver, so that is making me even more scared. Don't really have a question I guess just needed to get it out there, because my go to for things like this is my sister and I don't want to cause anymore worry for her than she is having to deal with. And my mama already has one daughter with cancer I don't want to worry her either espically since I don't know anything yet.
Thanks for listening.

Just got the call from dr. I'm scheduled for ultrasound and spot compression on Dec. 4th. Going to be a long week.

lizziebeth....Try to stay calm and remember you are fine until someone proves otherwise. Also most breast lumps are benign and you already know you have a benign breast condition. I know how hard the waiting is though. Our wondering minds are almost always worse than the reality. You are right that the tech cannot not tel you anything. When are you going or the other tests? The most important thing right now is to have them done ASAP for peace of mind. Hang in there and keep us posted. You can PM me if you want to talk more details. Good luck.....

lizziebeth48, sorry you are here but BCo is a great place to come for support, info and to post because it just sometimes helps.
Your docs are being cautious and scheduling to be certain but my take is 'there is nothing there to be worried about until told otherwise'. Yes it will be a long week because waiting is really hard. Try and do something nice for yourself, a special gift, a massage, something that may take your mind off this disease even if only for a moment.
Most of all, breathe.
