The Breast Cancer Landscape (DOD study)

Some very interesting observations in this study by the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Program.

If you are BRCA positive, this might be of particular interest, especially if you don't have a bc dx and are being closely monitored, or if you have mbc and are being exposed to frequent scanning.

"Importantly, evidence is emerging that BRCA mutation carriers are exquisitely sensitive to the effect of radiation exposure through diagnostic procedures, with their risk of breast cancer increasing in a dose-dependent fashion."

    Thanks for posting that, dlb.

I wonder, since PALB2 is linked so closely to BRCA function whether the same issues of sensitivity apply? It's ce ttainy a question I will keep in mind.
