She had it already but she didn't officially ask me....
-
(snorts of laughter, more than slightly embarrassed) I'll confess at this point that I didn't know, when I asked whether it was primarily a predator, that it was a peregrine. That was just the example I came up with.
-
Yes, it is a Peregrine Falcon....I felt a little guilty not admitting that.
-
Is it ok to call you Queenie?
-
But that's the fun of the game, for me at least. As you say, I wasn't asking specifically about peregrines just then. (Glad for the species that they can learn to live in close proximity to humans.)
-
Ok....it just made it awkward. I was hoping that you would have quickly asked about either of your examples and then more and more questions were asked, not the right ones and well.
I am going out for dinner now but I am almost certain that Queen's new puzzle won't be solved before I get back because she gives us tough ones which is good. Always learning something here.
-
EEP. Brain freeze.
Will you (plural) let me get away with another book? or do you want me to pick something more mundane/generic?
-
Book is fine with me (nearly midnight in Ireland) (That's a yawn)
-
Book is good. I am so glad we have Google
-
I'm here! Do a book!
-
OK....
THING or rather BOOK
To duck some of the first possible questions: the author is male, British and dead.
I was reminded of this by MusicLover's "peregrine falcon" challenge--hawking does play a part in instigating the action of this book, though it is by no means the key plot point.
-
1, Was the book written before 1960?
-
1. yes, prior to 1960
-
2. prior to 1900?
-
2. no, first half of 20th century
-
3. Detective Fiction?
-
3. Fantasy??
-
3. I'll combine these with an eye to brevity. and sympathy to overlapping posts. Fantasy is probably the best single-word descriptor, though there are other elements to the book.
-
4. Does it take place in the future?
-
4. No. (surprisingly, given my general tastes in literature)
-
Hmmmm...
5. Could it be considered a classic?
-
5. Yes. (tastes and definitions vary, though)
-
H.P. Lovecraft book?? (6
-
6. No, a fantasy that's a bit more firmly rooted in the real world. Also one that's a bit more firmly rooted in England. Or rather, the Matter of Britain. (ducks, and runs away, giggling)
But, that said, I"m off to turf out my Lovecraft books. It's been a while since I visited Kadath or Ulthar.
-
ok...lord of the rings I think was New Zealand...don't know where the sword and the sorcerer took place
This is stretching my brain...is anyone else out there???? Help!
Has it also been made into a movie?? (7).
-
(not gonna count any of this as an official question) IIRC, there was a cartoon/Disney production of the book I'm thinking of, but nothing with the media splash of The Lord of the Rings.
-
7/8 sword and the stone
-
Hi All, I'm logging in late here!!!! The only titles made into Disney cartoons I can think of from british authors don't really fit the 1900-1950 timeline. Kipling's Jungle Book is from the late 1800s and C. S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series is after 1950.
-
I was going to ask if it was written by C S Lewis
-
I am going to take a risk andask if it is The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe? That was published in 1950. I guess it still fits the timeline.
