Starting radiation soon

Hi,

I'm due to start radiation soon, I see the oncologist on Monday and will set up when it will start then. I'm a little worried because I smoked for about 35 years. With the IDC diagnosis and just thinking about radiation and possible chemo, I finally quit, but it's only been about a month. I am worried about the damage I've done to my lungs already and what radiation can do to them. Has anyone else had this experience? Right now I feel really good, probably because I don't have that poison going into my body anymore but I know there's long-term effects from it. Did any ex-smoker's have problems?
