I didn't join one when I had my lumpectomy because seeing women who had it so much worse than me when I went for radiation, made me feel that I would be too nervous in a group.

Have a lot of you joined a group and has it helped

Florida, I felt the same way when I did radiation. All the other female patients were either having chemo, about to have chemo, or just finishing chemo. My cancer center has a wonderful support group but I think I would feel like the proverbial elephant in the room so I never went.

Then I discovered BCO and found support here!

I love my local support group. It's for ladies diagnosed at 40 or younger. Most are breast cancer, but there are some other types. The support is amazing and having people who know what it's like to go through treatment, have small kids, deal with cancer and marriage, and also deal with cancer and working is wonderful. Even for the ladies past treatment, the group helps them with the mental "new normal" and helps them feel not alone in their struggles because they aren't.
