How serious are skin mets?

Options

Hello All,

I'm not finding much information anywhere on skin mets so was hoping you could help me.

I finished my treatment in 2011. In 2013, I had a large painful bump appear on the reconstructed breast that was biopsied and said to be squamous cell carcinoma. (It was biopsied because I was going under the knife for some Flap repairs). All I was told then "at least it's not melanoma".

Now I have seed-like bumps on my outer arms, just at the skin level, that itch and won't go away (months) and a pimple like bump on my right chest that is the size of a pea but hard and not itchy. It too has been there for some time and won't go away.

I meet with my dermatologist next week.

  • Should I have these biopsied?
  • How should I approach this, as serious or just skin irritations?
  • Should I let go off the 2013 squamous cell finding?

Hugs,

Katarina

    Hi Katarina,

I'd talk to the derm doc about it and ask for it to be biopsied. With a med hx of BC and squamous cell carcinoma you don't want to ignore it.

Is it serious? I have no idea (no experience of skin mets). Probably best to tell him you're concerned but not panicking. ILC tends to be sneaky so make sure he knows your exact BC hx.

Best of luck. Please let us know what happens.

    Leah
