I have busy breasts. Multiple benign conditions that require constant surveillance. I had a Mammo and US today, as I do every 6 months. I have had a very tender area behind my right nipple for months now. I had 3 biopsies in May of complex cysts on right breast in tender area. (Dr. thought they were solid, that's why biopsies were done). Today, 6 months later, a cyst grew from 1.9 cm to over 2.6cm. It is palpable, right behind nipple and very sore. I have also had discharge, including some blood since biopsy. I just figured it was the cysts draining.

My question is, could or should I have this cysts aspirated? It is on my chest wall. I have over 50 cysts total, and have never had one aspirated except the biopsies. I am not sure if the cyst is complex or not. IS it possible to have a cyst drained if it is close to the chest wall? I do not have my Mammo/US reports yet, just wondering if it is possible.

Well, I now have the reports. I have at least 139 cysts that they measured individually! "Many of the cysts are complicated. My beast imaging looks like the surface of the moon. Nothing but holes and craters. I was told the cysts that hurt (hard to tell which ones that includes) can be aspirated in the office but the deep large one on the chest wall will have to be done by radiologist. My breasts feel like bags of marbles. Self exams are useless, even the Dr. said she does not care to do clinical exams anymore since there are only lumps.

I was also told I could have a duct excised if I wanted. Not sure that is necessary. My ducts are diffusely prominent and mildly to moderately dilated and scattered throughout the breasts. That is just part of the fibrocystic breasts right? I do have a segmentally dilated duct that is now debris filled (new from 5/15 US/Mammo). Does this explain the nipple discharge from the cysts?

Good news is no biopsies this time and follow up in 1 year. Not sure about waiting that long with so many changes. Birads 3, as usual. With so much going on, what is hiding? I did cut way back on caffeine, started taking Vitamin A and E, and cysts multiplied. So confused.

    Signed-

    Super sore Boobies
