Core Biopsy Today

I had my core biopsy today for suspicious calcifications in my left breast. The biopsy was a piece of cake but I do have a little after pain. I had the doctor point out the calcifications on the screen for me to see. It's a tight circle of microcalfiations. Any clue from that as to the chances of it being benign or not? They also only had to go in once to get samples which does concern me a little since I'm assuming with benign material they would go in a few times to make sure? Any opinions on that? Now I need to wait 3 business days on results - probably Monday they said

Tough waiting it out. It is to hard to guess.

I figured. I know the doctors can't really say anything but I wish they would. The waiting is so hard and most women I'm sure rush home, Google all they can and come up with their own (incorrect) assumptions

Nope, no clues. (That's why they send the sample to pathology...)

And you shouldn't try to speculate based on how the procedure seemed to be conducted! It could be that you have the best doc in the world doing the biopsy. (One shot Sam?) At any rate, no way to tell. (If the pathologists don't find microcalcs in the sample, then you'll know he/she "missed." But you can't tell by looking at the sample with a bare eye...)

Keep telling yourself that you've done everything you can right now for your health. So try to turn your mind to something else (almost impossible, I know, but...) When your mind runs back to worry/speculation, just keep telling yourself:

I had my mamogram, I picked good docs, I've had the tests they wanted done. There is nothing I can do right now until I get the results.

And go do something you enjoy that requires you to concentrate!

Once you get the results, and know which path you're on... Then you can review what you get back, breathe a big sigh of relief. Or consider second opinions about interpreting the results, etc. No way to really try to read ahead on a road you may not even be on!

    Hang in there!
