Arimidex withdrawal

Options
  1. I recently finished with my hormone therapy. Two and a half years on Tamoxifen and two and a half years on Arimidex. During mytime with both medications I had some side effects, like hot flashes, difficulty sleeping, leg cramps, as well as bone and joint pain. For the most part, these were relatively mild, more of a nuisance. However, in the last ten days since stopping Arimidex, I have been experiencing achiness all over. I think that I am having some sort of withdrawal symptoms. Has this happened to anyone else?

hi! I have been on tamoxifen for 6 years. I am post-menapausal. My doctor has said I can stop taken tamoxifen, but when I do I feel so sick too. I'm not achy, but I feel crappy, headaches, just plain lousey. I start taken it again and I feel better. He said I can keep taking. I would like to stop if I won't feel so bad.

I have b een on Arimidex for less than two years, have taken 2 10 day breaks and one 30 day break and I felt FABULOUS within just a day or so of going off the drug. So I don't know. Your estrogen levels will come back up so the discomfort may be from your hormones starting to rise. I would give it 30 days before I gave up. I can't wait to be done with this......

I ended my 5 years on Aromasin almost 2 years ago, confess that I felt...weird at first as if in withdrawal or such which of course I was.

it passed within a couple of weeks but I wonder if a staggered withdrawal might have been easier

I stopped Arimidex a couple of weeks ago and I feel depressed. I'm sure it will take a while for the hormones to level themselves off again. At least I hope so!

it's absolutely possible to have withdrawals symptoms from anti hormones. IMO you should be weaned off of them. You can't take any drug everyday for 5 years p, stop cold turkey and not have any symptoms. Good luck. Hang in there ....

As you can see from my signature, I was actually on Arimidex, Aromasin then Femara. The change was because they were giving me horrible bone and joint pain. Each time when I went off the AI I felt like a new person after 3-4 days, way better than before. So I guess everybody reacts differently but it definitely can be a withdrawal type symptom. Hormones are not something to joke about, and the slightest imbalance can cause a lot of problems, especially when it comes to certain hormones like estrogen or thyroid hormone.

I only recently started using Anastrozole and am having lots of sinus problems. Could this be due to the Anastrozole? I want to take a break to see if I can overcome this "breathing through my nose" issue. Anyone have this problem? Anyone have any success getting rid of it?
