Hi,

I had a mastectomy due to brac2 gene using the sgap reconstruction. I don't smoke and am very healthy but the breast turned necrotic. It is hard, red in spots and lumpy, hurts and itches. I was wondering what are the chances of a breast implant without problems after I have this flap removed. Am I more at risk for capsular problems and pain? What are my alternatives? After this experience I don't think I want another flap procedure.

    HI Hawkinster,

I had the same thing happen to me. Two days after coming home from SGAP surgery my flap failed and had to be rushed to have it removed. At the time, I told the surgeon it it could not be corrected put in the tissue expander for implant. I am now 8 years out and the implant is fine.

I have not been on this board in quite awhile and went on today to search more information about SGAP. Specifically, the area of my buttocks, where the tissue was taken from has been hurting a bit lately. I am not sure why. I am just trying to find out if others are experiencing the same after many years have passed since SGAP procedure.

I know your post was from October; let me know what you decided.

    Jen

PS Where did you have your SGAP done?
