Rib pain-possible mets?

Options

I've been having pain in one of my ribs since at least June. It's right under my implant. It's only in one spot a couple of inches long, along my rib bone. I had triple negative cancer, stage I, six years ago.

The sore spot is very painful when pressed upon. I thought at first it was just my bra bothering me. But I had a follow up with my surgeon a month ago, and mentioned it to him. He wanted to watch it for a month to see it went away. It hasn't. An xray showed nothing. I'm having a bone scan 11/3/15.

Has anyone with mets to their ribs have pain before being diagnosed with mets? My dr said it isn't costochondritis, and might be arthritis. But I'm going crazy with worry!

I'm in the same boat as you. Severely tender spot in the middle of a rib and round the side of the rib cage below my armpit (BC side), but too low for it to be my bra. I had a low dose CT on Monday, but the radiologist said it wouldn't show lesions smaller than 1cm, and my oncologist is concerned enough to order me a PET & CT with contrast injection tomorrow. I'm freaking out!!!

Had my bone scan this morning. First the whole body, and then a few different angles of my rib cage. The tech left the rib cage images on the screen. I looked at them as I was leaving the room. There's an oval white spot right where my pain is. I'm not getting a good feeling about this...

I've had costochondritis since I had the mastectomy, 6 years ago. It's pretty much over 2/3 of my ribcage. Being an inflammation, it may show on scans as a hot spot, the same as arthritis and infections do. Let's hope that that is what it is. Fingers crossed for you.
