I've been reading that apparently if you get breast cancer soon after giving birth that your prognosis is much worse.

Does anyone know if this is true?

According to the 2-3 studies out there it's supposed to be true and may be linked to the wound healing process that takes place when the breast goes through the changes/lactation. But my doctors never mentioned it. I think this topic is very hard to study since there aren't all that much young women with breast cancer (I was the youngest one in the infusion room by 20 years easily). But younger women's survival is worse than that of the "average" woman with breast cancer. Younger women's cancers are more higher grade and tend to be more triple negative. We don't get regular mammograms and our cancers are usually found once the lump is already palpable opposed to DCIS and stage I cancers in older women. Add to that the diagnostic difficulties of dense breasts and delays in diagnosis "because you are too young" the odds simply are not in our favor.

I'm not triple negative nor was my diagnosis delayed so I'm hoping this improves my chances
