Tamoxifen and groin/pelvic discomfort

Options

I started Tamoxifen 9/01/15 after resisting taking it for 2months. I didn't have any side effects until 5 weeks in when I started feeling twinges in my groin, varying degrees of stabbing sensations that come and go, feeling of pulling sometimes. Just strange and though not painful, definitely annoying and new. I had an U/S both transvaginal and exterior and they saw a "lesion" that the doctor isn't concerned about but I will be having a D&C to check it out further.

I've read the Tamoxifen threads looking for others with groin pain but I'm not seeing anything. Have others had groin pain on Tamoxifen? The timing of my groin pain just seems so coincidental to starting the Tamoxifen.

Any thoughts?

Christine

Yes, I had symptoms similar to what you report including pressure like discomfort that would come and go. Very noticeable and I certainly thought it was related to Tamoxifen which I had started about 3 weeks earlier. It was very annoying. Due to that and other symptoms - bone pain, insomnia, significant mood changes I decided to give Femara another try. My doctor told me they were "classic" symptoms and after stopping the Tamoxifen the pelvic stuff went away - almost right away.

I've been on tamoxifen since May 2013 and the pelvic/ovarian cramping and pain started almost immediately and has been happening every month since then. I normally get it during my period for several days and then again about one week to ten days after my period during ovulation which lasts about five days. Prior to BC, I never suffered from period cramping and pain like I am now. I've talked to my doctors about ovarian suppression and taking an AI but right now I would rather deal with the devil I know rather than a devil I don't know. I had cysts but they resolved and my last US was normal but the pain and cramping persist. I have it right now. Just wanted you to know you're not alone and it's not in your head. Thankfully, my doctors have acknowledged that the pain is a SE of the tamoxifen

Absolutely. Just look at my posts near the end of the very long "Bottle o' Tamoxifen" thread.

I started tamoxifen Oct 5th, and went in for an exam with a new gyn. a few weeks ago. He sent me for an ultrasound due to fibroids (were most likely there for months), and went for that this past Monday. I had started having pain and discomfort almost a month into taking the tamoxifen. The ultrasound showed a cyst on each ovary along with two fibroids in my uterus. I'm pretty sure the pain is due to the cysts....and I cannot wait to see what he has to say when I see him Friday.

I started Tamoxifen in March of 2015. I went off it the beginning of this month...so for total I was on it for only 1.5 years. I hear Tamoxifen continues to protect you even after you stop taking it. But I wonder for how long it would protect me after only 1.5 on it.

I've read a lot of you girls had pelvis pain while on it, I did not. Although as soon as I went off it I now have had this dull crampy/bloated feeling. I've been experiencing it about 2 weeks now. No bleeding though. Regular bowel movements. I would have been a little worried if there was bleeding with it. I have my annual late next month. I'd hate to make an appointment to go in before that if I don't have to!!

I have discomfort there too. My pcp thinks it's the fibroids in my uterus that have become angry from the T as it's known to irritate/make them grow. I need to schedule the pelvic u/s she wants me to do to confirm that's what it is.
