Is this what an implant should feel like?

Hi Guys

I had bilateral mastectomy approx 4 years ago with immediate reconstruction with expanders then sub pectoral silicone implants. I had radiotherapy to my right side only, prior to my exchange. I'm very thin and athletic and due to the close margins I only have a thin layer of skin on each side (bilateral tumours). OK, so my question. Right from day one they have both been extremely firm. The right one is slightly firmer than the left, but nothing really signifiant. They are also very cold to the touch. I had them done whilst I was living in Australia within the health system there and was really made to feel grateful for whatever I got. However, I'm not sure whether it could feel more natural than this or if this is as good as it can get for me bearing in mind thin skin and no fat. I'm also not sure whether I should mess around with them in view of having radiotherapy to one side. They look OK, though a bit like half coconuts strapped to my chest. However they just feel so rock solid. Any thoughts? Thanks.

A lot of women say their implants are cold. I would say mine are "cool", but not cold, and not really firm but definitely not as soft as my natural breasts. Did you get silicone rounds? The anatomical implants are definitely firmer than the rounds. As for what to do about the look and feel, have you investigated fat grafting? I've had some done during my exchange and I think that really helps. I've always been thinner up top and will definitely need another round of fat grafting during my nipple reconstruction that's coming up in December. Some women need quite a few sessions, but the technique really seems to help. Good luck to you!
