IBC concerns
I'm a 2 year Stage 3 lobular BC survivor. I'm having pain and now itching on my previous cancer side. I called my breast surgeon because I was almost due for a ck up and complained of the pain -armpit pain but radiates around to my back and shoulders - burning and stinging mostly. She ordered an ultrasound before seeing me. I had the ultrasound Friday and results were a pocket of fluid under arm, near axillary incision and on the outside the edge of the Breast implant. Tomorrow they are going to aspirate and send to pathology. In the last 24-48 hours the itching under my arms is insane!
Surely not IBC now? Ideas, thoughts and opinions please!

Quiltrunner, I am glad they are sending the fluid off for analysis. Do you think this can be lymphedema? I wouldn't worry about IBC until you have to. Everyone is so different and it presents so differently in everyone, and it is so rare, I wouldn't stress as this robs us of so much to be worried, and does not accomplish anything. Congrats on the 2 years, and praying you have benign results. Please let us know as soon as you can. Hugs!

Thank you Meadow. I got to the appointment and the fluid had absorbed - at least all but a small amount - so they left it alone. I am still just miserable with itching, burning and stinging pain. I wonder if nerves could be regenerating this far out? I have also considered lymphedema. I tend to go to the worst place first in my head. Foolish, I know. I will soon have an appointment with the breast surgeon so we will see what she says. In the meantime, I'm having a hard time getting comfortable and sleeping without pain meds and we all know that's not a good place to be. Uggghhh!

Try hard to stay positive, I know some people get tired of hearing the "stay positive" stuff, but I whole heartedly believe that the mind and body are so strongly linked...just as seeing something gross makes us queezy at the stomach, or seeing something beautiful makes us cry...I believe the mind can promote healing, so focus on your cancer leaving your body, your cells being restored to good health. Please do not stress out!

A Dermatologist might be in order for the skin issues.

SHINGLES! It all adds up now. So miserable but at least it's not a recurrence! I do go to the worst place in my head which doesn't do me any good at all in the efforts move beyond cancer.
BTW, shingles hurts!!!

Shingles! This is the only place you can say...YES! Shingles!. Glad you know, and glad it is benign. I have heard they do hurt...so sorry!
